MMDA, QC LGU to deploy almost 2K manpower for Summer MMFF Parade of Stars

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Quezon City local government unit announced they will deploy enough manpower to manage the crowd and traffic for the first Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars on April 2.

The parade will be held on Saturday starting at 4 p.m., the MMDA said.

The MMDA added it will deploy 780 personnel while the QC LGU will deploy 1,202 personnel.

According to the MMDA, the five-kilometer parade route will start at Villa Beatriz then proceed to Quezon Memorial Circle via Commonwealth Avenue.

The main event will be held at Liwasang Aurora inside Quezon Memorial Circle.

Eight floats featuring the movies in the filmfest lineup will participate in the parade: Apag; Singlebells; About Us But Not About Us; Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko; Unravel: A Swiss Side Love Story; Here Comes The Groom; Yung Libro Sa Napanuod Ko; and Love You Long Time.

MMDA Acting Chairman and concurrent MMFF Over-all Chairman Don Artes urged the public to watch the parade to support the film festival.

The Quezon City LGU meanwhile advised motorists to expect heavy traffic and avoid the said route starting at 1 p.m.

The Summer MMFF will be held from April 8 to 18 in theaters nationwide.

The awards night meanwhile will be held on April 11 at the New Frontier Theater. —KG, GMA Integrated News
