Fire hits residential area in San Andres Bukid, Manila; 3 hurt

Fire hit a residential area in Barangay 767 in San Andres Bukid, Manila on Sunday night.

The fire which started at almost 11 p.m. quickly spread since the houses were made of light materials, according to a report by Darlene Cay on Unang Balita on Monday.

Residents tried to save whatever belongings they could.

Three residents had minor injuries sustained as they were evacuating. They were given first aid.

The fire was finally put out after one and a half hours, the Bureau of Fire Protection-Manila said.

According to barangay chairman Jose Abrito, 66 families were affected by the fire.

He also said the fire started from the third floor of a house, sparked by a gas tank left open after cooking.

Abrito said the area was also hit by fire twice last year.

Affected residents temporarily sought shelter at the barangay covered court. —KG, GMA Integrated News
