Ex-Masbate town vice mayor seeks help over missing daughter
The former vice mayor of San Fernando, Masbate sought help from the Taguig police as her daughter has been missing for a week, Emil Sumangil reported Tuesday on “24 Oras.”
Former Vice-mayor Karla Bunan said her daughter Veronicka Bunan Romualdez left her condo unit in Bonifacio Global City last February 20 to meet her husband, John Lorenz Romualdez, at a Parañaque hotel.
“Hindi ko po alam kung nasaan siya. Wala siyang tawag. Kahit sa mga kaibigan niya po hindi siya tumatawag, very unusual po ito,” Bunan said.
(I don't know where she is. She has not called yet. She hasn't even called her friends. This is very unusual.)
“Nung nakita ko po yung CCTV footage na dumating po sila, sabay po sila nung mag-asawa, doon ko po nalaman na talaga pong si Veronicka po nagpunta at saka si John Lorenz po yung kanyang husband noong [February] 20 nung gabi,” she said.
(When I saw the CCTV footage, they were together, I found out that Veronicka really went with her husband John Lorenz on the evening of February 20.)
Bunan said the couple stayed in the hotel and left the next day.
“Kinabukasan lumabas po ng room, nauna po yung lalaki, tapos si Nicka po... nagpunta ng basement. Tapos yun na po... ang huling kita sa kanya. Hindi po siya nakitang sumakay ng kahit anong sasakyan po,” Bunan said.
(The next day, he left the room first and then Nicka went to the basement, and that was it, that was the last time she was seen. She was not seen riding a car.)
Bunan said she also tried to communicate with Romualdez to locate her missing daughter.
“Wala daw siyang alam. Tapos sabi niya ayaw kong kausap ka sabi niya sa phone, magusap tayo nang harapan. Hindi niya po ako sinipot,” Bunan said.
(He said he didn't know anything. And then he said he didn't want to talk over the phone, but rather face to face. But he didn't show up.)
The former vice mayor said her daughter was separated from her husband for several months.
She said her daughter went to meet her husband because he wanted to make amends.
The family of Bunan filed a missing person report with the Taguig police.
Meanwhile, Romualdez said he was also looking for his wife. He, too, had filed a report with the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group to locate his missing wife.
He, however, declined to comment on the former vice mayor's remarks.
