SRP for onions not being followed in some Metro Manila markets

The P125-per-kilo suggested retail price of onions has yet to be followed in some markets in Metro Manila.

According to Bernadette Reyes' report on "24 Oras", local white onions are going for P100 to P200 while imported ones are sold at P150 to P250.

Local red onions are being sold at P240 to P320 while those imported go from P130 to P320.

Retailers indicated that could not follow the SRP because they still bought their onions at higher prices.

"Nagbibigay na rin tayo ng letter of inquiry kasi kailangan po natin makuha ang pangalan ng suppliers ng mga retailer para malaman natin bakit ganun ang presyo," Agriculture Assistant Secretary Kristine Evangelista said. —Richa Noriega/NB, GMA Integrated News
