6 dead from Quiapo fire —BFP


Six people were killed in the fire that hit a residential area on Arlegui Street in Quiapo, Manila on Thursday, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Based on its updated report, the BFP said four civilians were also injured due to the fire incident.

The BFP identified the fatalities as Ronan Cyrus Cayetano, 7; his cousins Cheska Camille Perito and Cheska Celine Perito, 12; Ronan's parents Jofemie Porio, 32, and Rul Daniel Cayetano, 34; and neighbor Rolando Briones, 63.

All six had earlier been reported missing.

Responders found two bodies embracing each other, according to Isa Avendaño-Umali's report on Super Radyo dzBB.

The BFP said that about 1,200 persons or around 500 families were affected by the fire that hit around 50 structures in the area.

Damage worth P5 million was reported.

Based on the Bureau of Fire Protection's report, the fire started at 2:34 a.m. and reached the third alarm level at 2:50 a.m. The fire was declared under control at 4:15 a.m. and declared out at 8:10 a.m.

At least 12 fire trucks and three ambulances responded to the area, the BFP said.
