NCR vehicle volume seen to rise by 20% during ‘ber’ months —MMDA
The volume of vehicles on Metro Manila's major thoroughfares is expected to increase by around 10% to 20% during the “ber” months, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Monday.
“Ang inaasahan po natin it will increase of around 10 to 20 percent sa ating mga major thoroughfares for the 'ber' months [We are expecting the volume will increase by around 10% to 20% in major thoroughfares] for the 'ber' months,” MMDA spokesperson Mel Carunungan said in a public briefing.
Carunungan said the daily number of vehicles on EDSA was at 398,000 as of November 10, which is already close to the pre-pandemic record of 400,000.
Meanwhile, the adjustment of mall hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. has started on Monday as part of MMDA’s traffic management measure in light of the holiday season.
Around 900 to 1,000 enforcers are being deployed on major thoroughfares per eight-hour shift, she added. — BM, GMA Integrated News
