Over 10K Taguig students, teachers given COVID-19 jabs since Aug. 15, 2022 —LGU

More than 10,000 students aged five to 17, teachers, and non-teaching personnel in various schools in Taguig City have been vaccinated against COVID-19 since August 15, 2022, the city’s public information office said Sunday.

In a statement, the Taguig City government said their School Tour: One-Stop Shop Bakuna program was part of the Department of Health’s (DOH) PinasLakas campaign.

Twenty-three elementary and high schools have participated in the vaccination drive so far. Primary vaccine series, and first and second booster doses were administered to eligible children, and teaching and non-teaching staff.

“The local government is set to visit more schools in the city to conduct COVID-19 vaccination for students and education frontliners. This is to further ensure everyone's safety upon the school reopening and encourage more people to get their booster shots once eligible,” the city government said.

Prior to the PinasLakas initiative, the city government said it also coordinated with the Department of Education Division Office “to expand and intensify the COVID-19 vaccination program for children in preparation for face-to-face classes.”

As of October 28, a total of 2,124,944 jabs have been administered in Taguig City. More than 860,000 residents are now fully vaccinated, and over 327,000 had received their first booster dose.

Those who wish to get vaccinated—either Taguig residents or not—may visit the city’s vaccination hubs at Lakeshore Vaccine Information Center, Venice Grand Canal Mall, and Bonifacio High Street from Monday to Friday.

All barangay health centers also offer COVID-19 vaccination to eligible individuals every Monday, Tuesday, or Friday.

“As the city promotes and supports the national immunization campaign of DOH, the local government also continues to encourage everyone to get their booster shots to be able to safely go out and protect themselves and their loved ones from COVID-19,” the city government added. — Giselle Ombay/BM, GMA Integrated News
