MMDA eyes temporary truck ban on Roxas Blvd. in November

Trucks may be temporarily banned from traversing Roxas Boulevard in Manila in November, according to Nico Waje's report on Unang Balita on Thursday, citing the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

MMDA Chairman Carlo Dimayuga III said this is in connection with the ongoing road repair by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in front of the US Embassy.

To be covered by the temporary ban are trucks and trailers with gross capacity  weight of over 4,500 kilograms.

The ban will last until the road repair is completed.

The MMDA provided the following alternate routes for the trucks.

From SLEX to Port Area: From South Luzon Expressway straight to Osmeña Highway to Pres. Quirino Avenue, turn left to Plaza Dilao towards Pres. Quirino Ext., left at U.N Avenue, turn right to Romualdez, turn left to Ayala Avenue/P. Burgos Avenue, then turn right to Bonifacio Drive to the destination.

From Port Area to SLEX: From Bonifacio Drive, turn left to P. Burgos/Ayala Blvd. then turn right to San Marcelino, turn left to Pres. Quirino Avenue then right turn to Pres. Osmeña highway to SLEX.

Truck drivers interviewed by GMA News expressed apprehension over the ban, noting the usual heavy traffic on Osmeña Highway that they said could affect their travel time. —KBK, GMA News
