LOOK: Heavy rains cause floods in several Metro Manila areas

Heavy rains caused flooding in several areas in Metro Manila on Thursday afternoon.

According to GMA News JP Soriano’s tweet, the downpour left parts of Araneta Avenue and Barangay Tatalon in Quezon City flooded.

Several motorcycle riders took shelter in Lagusniland underpass in Manila to avoid getting wet, according to Super Radyo dzBB Rodil Vega’s tweet.

Moderate rains were also experienced in Taft Avenue near Rizal Park in Manila.

Tropical Depression Maymay has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) although the threat of heavy rains remains, according to the Tropical Cyclone update posted by PAGASA early Thursday morning.

Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought about by the LPA and shearline with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.—Richa Noriega/LDF, GMA News
