Grade 12 student loses birthday gift cellphone to knife-wielding robber

A Grade 12 student lost her new cellphone—a gift for her birthday on Friday—to a robber who threatened her with a knife on a street in Barangay Masagana, Quezon City on Wednesday afternoon.

According to James Agustin's report on Unang Balita, the robbery was caught on CCTV.

The video showed that the suspect approached the victim from the back and grabbed her by the neck. He got her cell phone and ran away quickly. He was seen holding a knife in his hand.

The 17-year-old victim said that she was checking messages on her cellphone when she was held and threatened by the suspect.

The stolen cellphone is estimated to be worth 17,000 pesos. The victim said it was a gift from her parents for her upcoming birthday.

The victim has already reported the incident to the barangay and Quezon City Police Department Station 8.

Authorities ensured that they would intensify patrolling and try to capture the suspect. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA News
