Marikina River water level rises to 14 meters; authorities monitoring


Local authorities are monitoring the water level of Marikina River on Tuesday as heavy rains poured due to Severe Tropical Storm Florita.

As of 2 p.m., the water level in the river has reached 14 meters.

Under Marikina City's alarm system, the first alarm will be raised when the water reaches 15 meters. This means "warning".

The second alarm will be raised when water reaches 16 meters, and this means "prepare".

The third alarm on the other hand will be sounded when the water level is at 18 meters. This means "evacuate".

Marikina City Rescue 161 is showing a live video on Facebook showing the water level in Marikina River, to guide residents.

In its 2 p.m. bulletin on Tuesday, PAGASA said moderate to heavy with at times intense rains will be experienced over Metro Manila as well as the northern portion of Aurora, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and the rest of Cagayan Valley. —KG, GMA News
