Manure causes heavy traffic on C-5 after truck turns on its side
A ten-wheeler truck carrying around 60 sacks of chicken manure caused heavy traffic after it tipped over on its side on C-5 Kalayaan in Makati City just past midnight on Thursday.
According to Nico Waje’s report on “24 Oras,” the incident happened at around 1 a.m. and the vehicle was northbound.
Authorities immediately responded but even with a crane, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said they had difficulty lifting the truck.
“Fifty kilos yung isang sako tapos basa pa yung iba. Di maangat ng crane kasi loaded, nakapatong siya doon sa may sidings, kaya kailangan i-unload muna para matanggal 'yung obstruction,” MMDA first responder Elvis Cabariban said at the scene.
(Each sack weighs 50 kilos. The crane cannot lift the truck because it is loaded up to the sidings. We need to unload it first to remove the obstruction.)
GMA News sought the truck driver’s statement but he declined to comment.
His porter, Johndell Estolas, said that the brakes failed, causing the driver to lose control. One of its tires also blew out, he added.
The truck was en route to Baguio City from San Jose, Batangas to deliver the chicken manure supposedly to be used as fertilizer.
The truck was removed at around 7 a.m. — Sundy Locus/BM, GMA News
