Fire hits portion of Metropolitan Theater

Fire hit a portion of the newly renovated Manila Metropolitan Theater in Manila on Friday morning.

In a statement on Facebook, the theater said the blaze started from a room on the first floor of its Padre Burgos Wing that is currently under renovation.

"Hindi na kumalat pa ang sunog sa ibang bahagi ng complex o ng Tanghalan, at tuluyang naapula ng pasado alas-9 ng umaga," it said.

(The fire did not spread to the other parts of the building and it was put out past 9 a.m.)

A spot report by the Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire, which reached second alarm, was declared under control at 9:23 a.m. and out at 9:41 a.m.

No one was hurt in the incident, and no important items were destroyed, the Metropolitan Theater said.  —KBK, GMA News
