Manila Zoo lures visitors ahead of June 1 temporary closure

Thousands of visitors flocked to the Manila Zoo on Tuesday, a day before its temporary closure on June 1.

According to a “24 Oras” report, around 5,000 visitors who wanted to take advantage of the free entrance formed a queue at the zoo.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno had waived the entrance fee since February.

The city government earlier proposed a P100 entrance fee for Manila city residents and P200 for visitors residing outside of the capital.

The zoo will be temporarily closed for renovation. It is expected to open again by mid-July. — Mel Matthew Doctor/DVM, GMA News
