Fire breaks out in Baseco Compound residential area
A fire broke out in a residential area in Baseco Compound, Tondo, Manila on Thursday evening, Super Radyo dzBB’s Divine Reyes reported.
Citing information from the Bureau of Fire Protection, the report said that the fire in Block 17 Old Site Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila reached the first alarm at 7:40 p.m. and the fourth alarm at 8:31 p.m.
The fire allegedly started at the second floor of a house on the Pasig riverside, according to the Manila Bureau of Fire Protection.
Arson investigators said at least 100 houses were destroyed and more than P1 million worth of property was lost.
Some 300 families were affected in the blaze.
The BFP said the fire was put under control at 9:36 p.m. and an investigation is ongoing.
The Philippine Coast Guard declared nearby waters a no-sail zone, spokesperson Commodore Armando Balilo said.
