Angry cop points gun at girlfriend’s family
A police officer is under investigation after he pointed his gun at his girlfriend’s family in Quezon City.
According to Mark Salazar’s “24 Oras” report on Tuesday, the angry police officer identified as Police Corporal Wesley Hernandez went to his girlfriend’s house and threatened them after having a fight in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.
According to his girlfriend’s family, this was not the first time the police officer threatened his girlfriend.
“Alam ko na po na ganoon si Wesley, pag nalalasing po nagwawala po. Nakita ko po na yung helmet niya binato po niya sa kapatid ko po,” the sister of the victim said.
(I already know that Wesley is like that when he gets drunk. He loses his mind. I saw that he threw his helmet at my sister.)
“Sinabi ko sa kanya nakita niyo nakasira pa kayo ng property, nasira yung hinge ng gate. And then doon na siya nagsimula maging hysterical,” one of the complainants said.
(I told him you saw that the property was damaged, the gate hinge was damaged. And then there he started to get hysterical.)
His girlfriend’s family filed a complaint against the police officer before the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
“This time sisiguraduhin na po natin aaksyunan po ito ng ating QCPD, hindi po natin tinotolerate dito yan,” Police Colonel Fernando Ortega, deputy director of the QCPD, said.
(This time we will make sure that our QCPD takes action on this, we do not tolerate that here.)
The QCPD said it immediately released a restrictive custody order. However, the suspect did not surrender to the headquarters.
Hernandez, who was assigned to QCPD Station 14, was still on duty until Monday night, according to the authorities.
However, he has not yet responded to his station commander.
“Yung administrative po tuloy tuloy po ‘yan kahit mag-withdraw yan or bawiin yung kanyang complainant yung sa criminal, yung atin pong administrative eh magpupursue,” Ortega said.
(The administrative charges will continue even if the complainants withdraw their complaints against him.)
Authorities will file charges against Hernandez including grave threat, alarm and scandal, and violation of Commission on Elections’ gun ban for bringing his firearm when he was off duty.—Richa Noriega/LDF, GMA News
