Eight dead in fire that hit Barangay UP Campus, QC
Eight residents died when fire broke out in a residential area in Village A, Barangay UP Campus, Quezon City on Monday morning, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said, according to GMA News reporter James Agustin on Twitter.

Six of the fatalities were found in one room, according to a report by Allan Gatus on Dobol B TV.

The fire broke out before 5 a.m. and quickly spread among the houses made of light materials, according to Agustin's report on GMA News' Unang Balita.

The BFP raised the second alarm.
Residents quickly evacuated with whatever belongings they could bring. Others, however, were not able to save any of their possessions.
Some residents also helped the firemen put out the fire, climbing up roofs to douse water on the flames.

The fire was placed under control past 6 a.m. and was declared out at 7 a.m.
There were some residents who got injured after jumping out of their homes.
A total of 250 families were affected by the fire. Eighty homes were burned.
The BFP is still conducting an investigation as to the cause of the fire and determining the estimated amount of damage to property. —KG, GMA News
