Manila, Caloocan, Navotas, Valenzuela implement half-day work on Holy Wednesday


The city governments of Manila, Caloocan, and Valenzuela have ordered the suspension of work in its offices starting 12 noon, Wednesday, to allow employees observe the Holy Week.

However, departments, offices, and bureaus whose functions involve response actions to disasters and calamities shall implement a skeletal workforce among its employees for contingency purposes, according to a memorandum dated April 12 signed by Manila City administrator Felixberto Espiritu.

A memorandum signed by Caloocan City administrator Oliver Hernandez said offices involved in the simultaneous COVID-19 vaccination, hospital services, peace and order, disaster preparedness, payout of salaries, and cleanliness shall maintain a skeletal force.

 

Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian posted the advisory on his social media page.

In Navotas, on the other hand, office work will be suspended starting 1 p.m. but departments, offices, and units  involved in the delivery of basic health services, disasters and calamities response, among others, shall continue to be operational and render the necessary services, according to Mayor Toby Tiangco.

There will also be no vaccination in Manila from Maundy Thursday, April 14, to Black Saturday, April 16.

Swab testing, on the other hand, will only be limited to Sta. Ana Hospital and will implement a scheduling system through sahrtpcr20@gmail.com.

The city government said mass vaccination and testing will resume on Easter Sunday, April 17.

It added that those who will test positive for COVID-19 and needs admission may contact 09989364808 of the Manila COVID-19 Field Hospital.

Meanwhile, Manila Zoo will also be will be temporarily closed to public from Maundy Thursday, April 14, to Black Saturday, April 16. Zoo operations will resume on Easter Sunday, April 17.—AOL, GMA News
