Fire hits cinema inside BGC mall; no casualties
Fire struck a portion of a movie theater in Uptown Bonifacio in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on Tuesday.
According to the official fire report, the fire started at Cinema 3 at 11:59 a.m.
In a tweet, GMA News' Raffy Tima, citing Taguig fire director Fire Superintendent Bernard Rosete, said the fire was declared under control at 1:37 p.m. and fire out at 2 p.m.
He said the fire damaged cinema chairs and the projection room.
All tenants and visitors from adjacent tower buildings were evacuated, Tima said.
In a statement, Megaworld Lifestyle Mall, operator of Uptown Bonifacio, said no casualties were reported during the incident.
It also said the said the movie theater where the incident took place was "non-operational."
“Mall guests, tenants, employees, and workers from the adjacent office towers were immediately evacuated following proper safety protocols and procedure,” Megaworld said.
