PNP on Kit Thompson-Ana Jalandoni incident: We do not condone any act of violence

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday said it is not condoning any act of violence against women, as it vowed to conduct a full, fair and transparent investigation into the incident involving actor Kit Thompson and girlfriend Ana Jalandoni.

"We do not condone any act of violence, especially against women. As we celebrate the Women’s Month, we couldn’t stress enough the inherent role of the PNP to protect the rights of every woman in society," it said.

"We vow to conduct a full, fair and transparent investigation," the PNP added.

Police arrested Thompson on Friday for allegedly assaulting and detaining Jalandoni in Tagaytay City, Cavite.

Jalandoni said she had a heated argument with Thompson, which resulted in physical violence. He allegedly assaulted and punched her on different parts of her body.

Police got an emergency call for rescue at a hotel in Tagaytay City.

According to John Consulta’s “24 Oras” report Friday, Jalandoni asked for help from a friend through social media, where she detailed the threats to her life.

Police immediately rescued her and rushed her to a hospital, while Thompson was nabbed.

Jalandoni later shared a photo of her bruised face after the arrest of Thompson.

Thompson has undergone inquest proceedings for violation of RA 9262 or violence against women and children.

The PNP meanwhile said it "continues to monitor" Jalandoni's condition.

It also said it is preparing the evidence for possible filing of charges. —KG, GMA News
