'Normal' number coding back in Makati starting March 16, 2022

The Makati City government has announced that “normal” number coding scheme for vehicles will resume starting March 16, 2022.

“Please be informed that the normal number-coding scheme in Makati will resume starting March 16, 2022, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.,” the city government said in a Facebook post on Monday.

Exempted from the number coding scheme are vehicles carrying Senior Citizen Blu Card holders as drivers or passengers and those under official functions and medical emergencies as stated in the Makati Traffic Code.

On holidays, the number coding scheme is automatically lifted, the Makati government said.

Earlier, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said it is studying the possible expansion of the afternoon number coding scheme in the National Capital Region, which is set from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

MMDA chairperson Romando Artes said they are considering adding a morning period in the number coding scheme from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. —KBK, GMA News
