Nadia's mom sobs as she tells tale of wallet theft at shopping club

Nadia Montenegro's mother Linda sobbed when she described how a group crowded her among the shelves of members' only shopping center in Novaliches before losing a huge amount of cash to the suspects.

According to Ian Cruz's report on "24 Oras", Linda said she was hemmed in by the group, said to be made of seven persons.

"I was in front. Sila sa likod. Nagso-slow lang sila lakad. All of a sudden parang ang gulo, ang daming taong dumating... with so many carts," Linda said.

"Naipit na talaga ako," she added.

Linda found out that her wallet was missing when she was about to pay for the items she bought.

Police investigation showed that her wallet contained P10,000 in cash and ATM cards.

The suspects were said to have been able to withdraw P20,000 and P67,000 from her bank accounts.

"Nililito nila ang tao... Saka kinukuha ang valuable items," said Police Lt. Col. Richard Mepania, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 16.

Linda's ATM cards and IDs were reportedly found wrapped in a face mask in Marikina City.

Mepania said police have already identified two of the suspects.

He said S&R was also being investigated for its supposed lax security.

GMA News tried to get a comment from the management of S&R but a security person said it still had none as regards the incident. —NB, GMA News
