2 oil tankers crash into EDSA-Ortigas barriers, causing traffic

Two oil tankers figured in separate accidents on EDSA in Quezon City on Tuesday morning, crashing into barriers and causing heavy traffic.

The first tanker crashed into at least 16 concrete barriers on the southbound lane of EDSA-Ortigas flyover before dawn, according to a report by Mark Makalalad on Dobol B TV.

The area was finally cleared at 7:10 a.m.

Meanwhile on the northbound lane, another oil tanker crashed into eight concrete barriers and three plastic barriers near the foot of the EDSA-Ortigas flyover at 6:10 a.m., Makalalad reported on GMA News' Unang Balita.

The tanker which was carrying chemicals for use in paint manufacturing also drove straight onto the railings of the flyover, occupying the EDSA carousel bus lane.

Traffic built up as authorities closed the flyover for clearing operation.
