2 dead, 1 injured as vehicle rams motorbikes in Makati
A rider and his back-rider were killed, and another rider was injured when a vehicle plowed their motorbikes in Makati City before dawn Saturday.
According to Nico Waje’s “24 Oras Weekend” report, vehicle driver Martyn Tan, 23, rammed the motorcycles on EDSA-Guadalupe area at past 3 a.m.
The Makati Police showed the video of the incident to GMA News, but gave no permission to broadcast.
Based on the video, Tan was driving fast and hit the two motorcycles.
Witnesses said the driver was also in a rage after ramming the motorbikes.
“Nagwawala siya dyan kaya nagkaganyan yung mukha niya kasi pinadapa ni sir yan,” Rudilyn Mandao, one of the witnesses, said.
(He was rowdy and ill-tempered that is why his face got injured because he was forced to lay prone.)
Tan admitted that he was driving fast during the incident, but insisted that he was not under influence of liquor.
“Nandito lang ako sa right lane tapos biglang nabangga yung mga tao dito,” Tan said.
(I stayed on the right lane and suddenly the vehicle hit the motorcycles.)
The injured motorcycle rider was immediately taken to Makati Hospital.
The front side of the vehicle was severely damaged due to the impact of the crash, and concrete barriers were also destroyed.
Tan is now under the custody of the Makati Traffic Bureau while the incident is still being investigated. —LBG, GMA News
