2 dead in fire in Barangay Mariana, QC

Two people died in a fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Mariana in Quezon City on Wednesday morning.

The fatalities were a 67-year-old mother and her daughter aged 42, according to a report by James Agustin on GMA News' Unang Balita.

The victims were trapped on the second floor of their house which is on 11th Street, according to a report by Allan Gatus on Super Radyo dzBB.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region, the fire started around 5 a.m. on the first floor of the house.

The house help was able to get out in time, but the mother and daughter were not able to do so.

Two vehicles were also engulfed by fire.

The fire which only reached the first alarm was put out at 6:20 a.m.

The BFP-NCR is still conducting an investigation as to the cause of fire and extent of property damage.

Relatives of the victims meanwhile had no statement about the tragedy. —KG, GMA News
