Passengers stranded at Manila North Port due to LGU swab test requirement
Some passengers camped out outside the Manila North Port passenger terminal overnight after they got stranded pending the fulfillment of requirements imposed by the local government units at their destination.
Although most of the passengers were already vaccinated against COVID-19, those stranded had expired RT-PCR test results, according to a report by Corinne Catibayan on GMA News' Unang Balita on Monday.
The stranded passengers slept on pieces of carton on the ground, some of them without face masks.
There was no more physical distancing as they stayed together cramped in the area.
One of those stranded said his RT-PCR test result was already expired. He had another RT-PCR swab test done on Sunday, and is still awaiting the result.
The passenger appealed to LGUs to make it easy for them to take trips on board sea vessels to provinces.
The country's total COVID-19 infections continued to rise, with 37,154 new COVID-19 cases recorded on Sunday. This brought the total caseload to 3,205,396. —KG, GMA News
