Medical technologists ask for understanding amid delayed COVID-19 results, lean staff

Medical technologists asked for the public's patience on the slow processing of RT-PCR results because most of them are infected with the coronavirus disease.

According to Oscar Oida's "24 Oras" report, the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET) said most medical technologists have mild to moderate symptoms of the disease.

Jero Rullan, a medical technologist in Elroi Medical Clinic and Diagnostic Center, asked for understanding after a number of them experienced harassment from clients.

"Ipakukulong daw kami kasi 'di kami sumusunod sa tamang oras. (They are threatening us to get jailed because they said we are not following the deadline)," said Rullan.

"Ang kalaban po namin dito pagod at puyat po dahil gusto namin maserbisyuhan ang RT-PCR testing po," he added.

(Our enemy here is overwork and sleep deprivation.)

PAMET had also previously asked for the release of just and timely benefits for medical technologists. —Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
