Some NCR LGUs pass ordinances on no vax, no entry policy
Some local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila on Tuesday approved ordinances that would ban entry of unvaccinated people in malls, restaurants and public transportation.
According to Maki Pulido's "24 Oras" report, Quezon City and San Juan already passed their respective local laws to only allow the unvaccinated to go outside if they purchase essential goods and access basic services.
In San Juan, Mayor Francis Zamora said those establishments found violating their ordinance on restricting entry of unvaccinated people will be ordered closed.
An ordinance in Quezon City required establishments to see the vaccine cards of individuals before entry. Those without vaccination cards may be allowed to buy essential goods only and they will be asked to provide their names and contact details.
Unvaccinated workers will be given until one month to complete their vaccination, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
"Mayroon kaming naisip (We thought of a strategy) na strategy to address that one of them bring vaccination right to their doorstep," Belmonte added.
Other LGUs, including Caloocan, Pateros and Marikina, are preparing their respective ordinances on restricting movement of those who are yet to be inoculated against COVID-19.
Oliver Hernandez, Caloocan City administrator, said they may limit movement of those unvaccinated as well as those with incomplete doses.
The Metro Manila Council, composed of mayors in the metropolis, agreed to mandate people to stay at home.
But MMDA chief Benhur Abalos Jr. said they exempted those unvaccinated but with medical conditions from their strict regulation.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
