GABMMC temporarily stops taking in patients at ER for disinfection
The Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center (GABMMC) in Tondo, Manila on Saturday announced that it would temporarily stop admitting patients at the emergency room due to the rise of COVID-19 infections among hospital employees and personnel.
GABMMC director Dr. Teodoro Martin said the hospital’s emergency room would be closed to conduct disinfection and to effectively manage and discharge COVID-19 patients admitted in the hospital.
“All incoming patients shall still be evaluated and transferred to other city hospitals through proper coordination with Mr. Reynaldo L. Paglinawan Jr., Nursing Coordinator of this hospital,” Martin said.
“Please bear with us and kindly accommodate patients that may be transferred to your hospital,” he added.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) placed the National Capital Region (NCR) under Alert Level 3 from January 3 to 15, 2022, following the sharp increase in new COVID-19 cases.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III earlier said that the highly transmissible Omicron variant may already be responsible for the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.
The Philippines on Saturday recorded 3,617 new COVID-19 infections at the start of the New Year. —LBG, GMA News
