DOTr eyes closure of EDSA-North Avenue to facilitate Grand Central Station completion

The Department of Transportation wants to close the North Avenue portion of EDSA to vehicular traffic for at least 30 days to facilitate the completion of the Unified Grand Central Station that will link MRT-3 and LRT 1.

According to Saleema Refran's report on "24 Oras", Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade also preferred the temporary shutdown of MRT-3 North Avenue station to meet the target soft opening of the central station in March 2022.

Tugade said construction work at present only ran from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. or for only five hours a day.

The DOTr will discuss the proposal with the Quezon City local government and the Metro Manila Development Authority. -NB, GMA News
