Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay catches fire
A fire broke out on Wednesday morning in a part of the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City, where COVID-19 vaccinations for minors are being held.
The fire reached the first alarm past 8:18 a.m. the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said, according to a report of Jhomer Apresto on Super Radyo dzBB.
The fire started on the second floor of the arena.
The vaccination among children below 18 years old in the arena was thus suspended and was transferred to another vaccination center.
According to Aurelio Vendivel, officer in charge of the Astrodome, the vaccination rollout was transferred to the Mall of Asia in Pasay City, as well as the around 500 doses of vaccines that were about to be administered in the arena.
"During the time pa lang po na nagkaron ng sunog, nilabas na po agad 'yung [vaccines]," he said.
(When the fire broke out, we already took out the vaccines.)
Aside from the vaccines, the medical supplies of Barangay 76 such as emergency go bags, medicines, syringes, and face masks were stocked in the arena.
Dr. Grace Noble of the City Health Office also said that before the fire spread, they had already evacuated the minor private school students, along with their guardians, who lined up to get inoculated against the COVID-19.
Residents of Barangay 76 Zone 10 and personnel of Clean and Green Pasay City were seen working together to save valuables.
