Alleged Abu Sayyaf member nabbed in QC

An alleged member of the Abu Sayyaf Group was arrested by police and military forces in Quezon City, according to an exclusive report by John Consulta on "24 Oras" Tuesday.

Authorities identified the suspect as Albazir Abdulla.

Abdulla was arrested by virtue of warrant arrest sought by the National Bureau of Investigation.

The suspect is facing charges related to kidnapping due to his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of several employees of the Golden Harvest Plantation in Basilan in 2001.

Abdulla denied that he is a member of the terrorist group.

"Hindi talaga ako Abu Sayyaf. Wala akong alam diyan sa pang-ki-kidnap na 'yan," he said.

Meanwhile, NBI counter terrorism division chief Atty. Gregorio Zuñiga said they have evidence that he is part of the ASG.

"May ebidensiya kami na active pa sila so nandito sila sa Metro Manila para magpahinga pero kapag mayroon silang misyon, bumabalik sila sa Mindanao," he said.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
