Red Cross opens EDSA Bakuna Center for COVID-19 vaccination of A1, A2, A3, OFWs

The Philippine Red Cross on Thursday opened its EDSA Bakuna Center in Mandaluyong City for the COVID-19 vaccination of individuals belonging to the A1, A2 and A3 priority groups, as well as overseas Filipino workers.

The vaccination site is at the corner of EDSA and Boni Avenue, according to a report by Allan Gatus on Super Radyo dzBB.

PRC chairman and Senator Richard Gordon said swift vaccination is necessary to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

The organization has nine Bakuna Centers in Metro Manila and is set to open more sites in the region.

A total of 14 Bakuna Centers in the whole country have been opened so far, the PRC said.

A total of 23,199,187 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered as of Thursday. Of this number, 10,705,190 are second doses. 

The Philippines is studying the possibility of raising its target for COVID-19 vaccine coverage from 70% to 80% of its 109-million population amid the threat of the highly contagious Delta coronavirus variant, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said Tuesday. —KG, GMA News
