Matandang Balara's Area 7 has 43 COVID-19 cases after Mother's Day drinking session
At least 12 individuals tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 in Barangay Matandang Balara, some of whom attended a drinking session in celebration of Mother's Day.
One of the individuals involved in the drinking and videoke session was reported to have been caring for a relative who was confined in the hospital.
The individual tested positive a few days later, along with three others who were part of the drinking session.
Days after, a neighbor of one of the individuals tested positive. He served as a driver for a wedding, where the bride, a bridesmaid, and another relative also tested positive.
Meanwhile, a bible study was hosted in the same area every Thursday. Seven individuals who took part tested positive.
According to Barangay Old Balara Captain Allan Franza, all 12 individuals are under home quarantine, and all are asymptomatic.
"Bale po ang sa latest swab test results, umabot na po ng 43 'yung nag-positive po doon sa area ng ni-lockdown sa Area 7, Luzon Avenue, Barangay Matandang Balara," he said in Vonne Aquino's report on "24 Oras Weekend."
