Navotas, Malabon impose liquor ban to contain COVID-19 spread
The cities of Navotas and Malabon implemented a city-wide liquor ban to contain the further spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In a Facebook post, Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco said the sale, procurement, and consumption of liquor will be prohibited in the city starting Wednesday, March 17 until the community quarantine is in effect.
Violators will be fined P1,000 and/or one-day imprisonment on the first offense, while a fine of P3,000 and and/or five-day on the second offense.
For the third offense, violators will be fined P5,000 and/or 10-day imprisonment.
Meanwhile, Malabon City Mayor Lenlen Oreta also implemented a liquor ban in the city starting March 15 until April 3.
He said the stricter measures are in light of the surge of COVID-19 cases in the city.
