Authorities strictly implement lockdown in parts of QC, Mandaluyong


Local authorities have been strictly implementing the lockdown imposed on parts of Quezon City and Mandaluyong City due to the clusters of COVID-19 cases reported.

In Quezon City, 23 areas were placed under special concern lockdown.

Among these areas is Robina Street in Barangay Bungad, where the 14-day lockdown started on March 13, according to a report by James Agustin on GMA News' Unang Balita on Monday.

Six cases of COVID-19 were recorded in this particular area.

Barangay and police officers have been manning the entry and exit points on the street.

Residents are not allowed to leave their homes. Those who are working were advised to undergo home quarantine or go back to their homes after the lockdown.

The residents will undergo RT-PCR testing to check if any more were infected.

The other areas under special concern lockdown in Quezon City, according to the local government unit (LGU), are:

The LGU stressed that the lockdown would only be on specific establishments or residences, streets, compounds, and not whole barangays.

Affected residents will be given food packs by the LGU.

Mandaluyong City

Meanwhile, in Mandaluyong City, a granular lockdown is currently in effect in Zones 4, 5 and 9 of Block 41 in Barangay Addition Hills, according to a report by Bam Alegre on Unang Balita.

 

The lockdown will be in effect until March 18.

More than 500 families are residing in this area under lockdown where six COVID-19 cases have been reported.

Those with medical emergency or are essential workers will be allowed to go out of their houses, but the rest of residents will need to stay home.

Authorities also imposed a liquor ban and disallowed the entry of unauthorized vehicles.

Meanwhile, the LGU is urging residents to sign up for Mandavax, the list of those intending to receive COVID-19 vaccines.

So far, 55,498 residents have registered.

The LGU said residents may register on the website mandaluyong.gov.ph/vaccine or contact 09631646410 and 09561502808.

To date, 41 cases of COVID-19 are active in Barangay Addition Hills, while 456 active cases have been recorded in the entire Mandaluyong City. —KG, GMA News
