UP Diliman to close public places starting Friday, March 12
The University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman will close all of its public places starting Friday, March 12 to Sunday, March 14 amid a spike in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
According to the university, areas such as the whole Academic Oval, the College of Human Kinetics, the PAUW-UP Child Study Center, the National Science Complex, and bike routes, among others, will be closed starting 4 p.m. on Friday until Sunday evening.
“Campus residents are allowed to do outdoor exercises only inside their respective areas/purok and are urged to always observe safety health protocols,” it said in a tweet.

The university issued the announcement after it recorded 26 active COVID-19 cases at the UP Diliman and the Barangay UP Campus.
Of the active cases, 14 are asymptomatic, 11 are mild, and one is in moderate condition.
A total of 660 confirmed cases have been reported at the Diliman campus, of which 623 have recovered and 11 have died.
