Marikina to start COVID-19 vaccination with Amang Rodriguez hospital workers — Mayor Teodoro
Around 1,500 healthcare workers of Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center are set to receive the first COVID-19 vaccines in Marikina City on Tuesday, Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said Monday.
“Ang rollout sa Marikina City ay gagawin bukas, Martes,” Teodoro said in an interview on GMA News’ Unang Balita.
“Meron tayong 1,500 na inisyal na mga healthcare workers na manggagaling sa Amang Rodriquez Memorial Medical Center,” he added.
According to him, at least 55 prioritized recipients of the vaccine have backed out.
Teodoro said they will respect the decision of the healthcare workers who will refuse to take the vaccine or prefer other brands of vaccine as instructed by the Department of Health.
He added that he received reports that some doctors in Metro Manila were supposedly being threatened to take the available vaccines or else they will be last in the priority list for the inoculation rollout.
Teodoro underscored that they should be given the chance to receive the vaccines once their preferred brand of vaccine arrives. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
