Fire destroys 2 apartment units in Manila, causes P300k damage

Fire broke out in Manila's Binondo district Tuesday night, affecting two families and causing some P300,000 in damage to property.

Citing an initial investigation report, GMA News' Mai Bermudez said on "Unang Balita" that the fire was sparked by an unattended electric kettle on the second floor of one of the units of a 5-storey apartment building in the area.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire after an hour, the report said, adding that a volunteer was slightly hurt.

Two units were damaged but all occupants had been brought to safety, unharmed. Fire damage was estimated at P300,000, investigators were quoted in the report as saying. —LBG, GMA News
