QC has secured 24 vaccination centers so far, mayor says

Twenty-four vaccination sites have so far been approved by the Department of Health in Quezon City, Mayor Joy Belmonte announced on Thursday.

"As of today's presentation, we have secured 24 sites so all of these sites, I just want to emphasize, kailangan kasi ng DOH approval kasi may flow 'yun eh. Marami kaming pini-present sa DOH na iba't-ibang mga sites and then the DOH tells us which is appropriate and not appropriate," Belmonte said at a press briefing.

"So at the moment, ito 'yung mga inaprubahan ng DOH and these are the ones with sure staff and personnel available," she added.

Belmonte said the local government is open to add more inoculation centers for the city's vaccination program.

Belmonte said churches and academic institutions such as Ateneo De Manila University and Sienna College have offered their facilities to be used as vaccination centers.

Quezon City is one of the local government units that signed a tripartite agreement with AstraZeneca and the national government regarding the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.

According to Belmonte, vaccinating employees whose offices are in Quezon City are being considered.

Belmonte said vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. has advised them to work with private sectors for the purchase of more COVID-19 vaccines that will cater to employees.

"This has been considered very seriously and as soon as we get the proper guidance as to how to go about with this, definitely Quezon City is very open to doing this," she said. —KBK, GMA News
