2 cops dead, 2 more injured in Camp Crame fire


Two police officers on Friday died of electrocution and suffocation while two others were injured after a fire broke out at the Logistics Support Service (LSS) compound in Camp Crame at 2 a.m., the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

Based on the initial report, Transportation Maintenance Division (TMD) deputy chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Vinluan heard a bursting sound and saw fire at the back of an armored vehicle that was parked in the vehicle shed.

The PNP said that upon discovery of the fire, LSS personnel on duty immediately responded to put out the blaze using fire extinguishers while waiting for the fire  engines to arrive.

Meanwhile, the four victims were identified as Police Lieutenant Victorioso Yulde, Police Master Sergeant Amado Ormillon Jr., Police Staff Sergeant Nichol Jamosmos, and Police Staff Sergeant Jesus April.

The victims were rushed to the PNP General Hospital.

However, Ormillon and Jamosmos were declared dead due to electrocution and suffocation while Yulde and Apil sustained injuries.

The fire was declared out at 3:06 a.m.

According to the PNP, the fire partially damaged the TMD facility of the LSS compound. A damage assessment is being conducted.
