Christmas rush felt with heavy traffic on EDSA

The Christmas rush was felt along Metro Manila's major roads as shoppers go to malls while others head back home to their provinces.

Traffic flow went slow on EDSA on Wednesday afternoon, according to a 24 Oras report by Jamie Santos.

Vehicles went almost bumper-to-bumper at the north-bound lane of EDSA in Kamuning with motorists repeatedly honking their horns.

Some drivers complained of exhaustion due to heavy traffic as commuters struggle to get aboard public transportation.

Vehicles using the U-turn slots at the Quezon City Academy and Dario Bridge have also contributed to the slowdown.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Celine Pialago, however, said the opening of U-turn slots was not the culprit to the gridlock.
