Siling labuyo price doubles to nearly P1k per kilo
Prices of Noche Buena items have increased, but "siling labuyo" or hot pepper beats all the rest as its cost per kilo doubled to P850 a little more than a week before Christmas Day.
GMA News' Bernadette Reyes reported Wednesday on Balitanghali that from P450 to P500 a kilo, the price of hot pepper has gone up to P850.
Due to the rise in prices of goods, vendors have repacked their products.
Some vendors sold a plastic containing six pieces of chili for P20.
Bell pepper's price also rose to P300 per kilo from P250.
However, siling pangsigang's price decreased to P200 from P280.
Meanwhile, the price of chicken at the Kamuning Market rose to P170 per kilo from the P140, and kasim to P310 from P280.
A known ham store in Quiapo also increased it prices by P40 since October, the report said.
La Loma in Quezon City, a place known for selling lechon, however did not increase their prices.
"Hindi nga kami nagtaas eh. 'Pag nagtaas kami baka wala rin sa aming bumili, mababarat kami. Kasi kapag hindi namin binigay sa presyong gusto nila, lilipat [ang customers]," said Ramon Ferreros, owner of Monchie's Lechon. —LBG, GMA News
