Two alleged Waray-Waray members killed in QC police operation
Two alleged members of a gun-running and gun-for-hire group were killed in a police operation in Quezon City over the weekend.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), the suspects were killed when they opened fire during a gun buy-bust operation in Barangay Bagong Silangan in Quezon City on Saturday, December 05, 2020.
"Sa dahilang ito, napilitan ang ating mga kapulisan na makipagpalitan na rin ng putok at 'yun ang pinaghantungan ng kanilang dagliang kamatayan," Ronaldo Lumactod Jr., chief of the Anti-Kidnapping Group's Public Information Office, said in Corinne Catibayan's report on GMA's "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday.
One of the suspects was identified as Johnny Radaza, said to be a spotter and kidnapper involved with the Waray Waray Group - a gang infamous for targeting Chinese businessmen.
Radaza was under surveillance for six months before the operation.
The other slain suspect had yet to be identified.
"Ang Waray Waray Group ay involved sa series of robbery holdup within Metro Manila. Nag-shift sila ngayon sa drugs. After drugs, humigpit ang ating kapulisan sa droga, nag-shift sila ngayon sa kidnapping," said Lomactod. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA News
