Floodwaters in parts of Marikina City start to subside

Some of the residents of Provident Village in Marikina City have survived the deluge brought about by Typhoon Ulysses and are now faced with a new task on Friday as floodwaters start to subside.

In the photo taken by Karen Tanchanco-Caballero, a neighbor is out and about to start clearing up his garage that has been filled with mud.

The scene is in contrast to just 22 hours before when most of Marikina City was submerged in floodwaters that boats had to be used to rescue residents stranded on the rooftops or second floor of their houses.

However, there are still parts of Marikina that have to be cleared.

Vice President Leni Robredo, who visited Barangay Tumana on Thursday posted on social media that several parts of the village remain impassable after heavy downpour and strong winds ravaged the area.
