Murder suspect surrenders in San Juan

A 20-year-old murder suspect surrendered to authorities in San Juan City on Monday.

Mayor Francis Zamora presented and identified the suspect as one Marvin Ferreras. He was allegedly involved in stabbing a certain John Clarence Buena, 17, last November 2.

Zamora said Buena died in the hospital after being confined for two days. The mayor said the stabbing incident was allegedly triggered because of jealousy.

Zamora told reporters.

Ferreras' family decided to surrender him to Zamora as they wanted to ensure the safety of the suspect even in jail.

Zamora then said the rule of law would be followed in Ferreras' case but he noted that the suspect should face the criminal complaint that will be filed against him.

Habang kayo po ay nasa loob ng kulungan, habang umaandar ang proseso, I will guarantee your safety," Zamora said.

Police are already preparing the murder complaint against Ferreras.

Ferreras, meanwhile, insisted that what happened was a set-up and that he also wanted justice for himself.
