Quarantine passes will still be used in Metro Manila under GCQ —Olivarez

Parañaque City Mayor and Metro Manila Council chairman Edwin Olivarez on Wednesday said the use of quarantine passes would still be enforced in Metro Manila for a stricter implementation of the general community quarantine. 

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, Olivarez said only those who were issued with quarantine passes and authorized persons outside residence are allowed to go out under the stricter GCQ.

"Magiging strict compliance tayo noong original na guidelines ng GCQ. Kasi kung natatandaan mo, 'yung mga dating GCQ natin, lumuwag nang lumuwag katulad ng ating dine-in, tapos 'yung ating gathering dating 10% lang... ngayon 'yung original na guidelines ang ipapatupad ng bawat local government units dito sa National Capital Region," Olivarez said.

"Isu-sustain po natin 'yung ating home quarantine pass so ibig sabihin, imi-minimize natin 'yung paglabas ng tao sa kanilang residence. 'Yun lang may home quarantine pass per household ang puwedeng lumabas for essential at 'yung ating mga APOR," he added.

Each local government unit has an ordinance which will determine the kind of sanctions that will be imposed against those who will violate this rule, Olivarez said.

The national government has decided to place Metro Manila and other high-risk provinces under GCQ from August 19 to 31.
