Ospital ng Maynila to be closed starting Friday, July 31
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno on Thursday ordered the temporary closure of the Ospital ng Maynila starting Friday, July 31 to August 9, Sunday due to the hospital's rising coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases among its medical frontliners.
In a live briefing, Moreno said that 11 frontliners have been admitted, 4 confirmed cases are on home quarantine, and 32 asymptomatic suspect cases are on home quarantine.
“[M]eron din kaming ilang re-infection at marami kaming asymptomatic at marami din waiting for test results to PCR swab testing na mga doctors, nurses, [and] medical workers,” Moreno said in a live briefing.
However, Moreno said the hospital will still accept patients involved in life and death situations.
“To name a few, halimbawa, emergency manganganak, ibig sabihin talagang manganganak, tatanggapin pa rin natin sa emergency room,” Moreno said.
“Tatanggapin pa rin natin sa emergency room ‘yung mga aksidente na involves life and death or ano mang klase pang aksidente. So, other than that, hindi muna tayo tatanggap sa loob ng nasabing araw,” he added.
Moreno assured that the hospital’s dialysis, telemedicine, test swabbing, serology, and radiology services will continue.
“So, all other things with regard to services of Ospital ng Maynila not included in the exception, for the meantime suspended ho ‘yung services,” Moreno said. —LDF, GMA News
