Kite-flying banned in Manila
Manila on Tuesday announced that it was prohibiting kite-flying in the city due to the dangers it posed such as electrocution and fires.
According to the memorandum, kite-flying may trigger fires if a kite string gets caught in overhead electric wires.
Persons playing kites could also get electrocuted if it got entangled on power lines.
Meralco had previously appealed to the public to avoid flying kites near power lines.
As of April 24, Meralco has recorded 47 power outages due to kites getting entangled on power lines since the start of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon. -NB, GMA News
