Ador Mawanay nabbed for estafa in Pasig — police
Former government witness Antonio Luis Marquez, also known as Ador Mawanay, was arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Wednesday afternoon in Pasig City.
According to the PNP - CIDG on Thursday, Mawanay, who is a businessman, was nabbed by virtue of warrant of arrest for estafa issued by Judge Ma. Consejo Gengos Ignalaga of the Antipolo City's Regional Trial Court Branch 100.
He was arrested in Greenwoods Executive Village, authorities said.
Police said the operation against Mawanay also stemmed from a complaint field by a doctor.
The physician said he had ordered medical supplies, worth P12 million, from Mawanay. Police said the doctor became suspicious because of the delayed deliveries of the medical supplies, adding that 200,000 face masks remained undelivered.
Authorities then found out that Mawanay was selling medical supplies online and that the latter promised fast delivery of the orders. However, once buyers paid Mawanay, the latter will block the number of the customers.
The recommended bail was P40,000.
The suspect is now detained at the cell of the CIDG's Anti-Organized Crime Unit.
Mawanay once accused Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson of involvement in illegal activities.
Mawanay later recanted his allegations against the senator. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
